Family mediation can take many forms, and below are examples of the variety of family scenarios that Priya Palanivel has mediated on and successfully helped reach a resolution.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
1. Mediation involving a relatively young couple with three children with special needs, who ran a family business together, also with the husband’s family who were shareholders. The wife initiated divorce proceedings and on the cusp of issuing financial remedy proceedings. The husband was also contemplating making a Children Act application to spend time with the children. During the course of six sessions, two of which included the wider family members and shareholders of the family business, the couple agreed the arrangements for their three children, including the detailed arrangements for the children’s individual needs. They also agreed the financial arrangements, including the wife being bought out of the business and transferring her shareholding, without the need for lengthy and protracted court proceedings which would have involved the wider family members intervening.
2. Mediation between an older couple with substantial wealth and a blended family involving stepchildren on both sides. Successfully mediated an agreement for the division of the assets, and financial arrangements for all the stepchildren, including provision for the stepchildren and the child arrangements, thus avoiding court proceedings. This took place between four to five sessions.
3. Mediation involving a divorced couple; the ex-husband was looking to vary the long-term joint lives maintenance award to his ex-wife. The couple were considering applying to the court to vary/enforce the maintenance order. The couple successfully mediated a variation of the maintenance award for the duration of the parties’ minor child, thus avoiding court proceedings. This took place in two mediation sessions.
4. Mediation involving a divorced couple with four children. The mother wished to move from East London to Devon, successfully mediated child arrangements and a parenting plan for the children to spend time with both parents, both in Devon and in London, avoiding an internal relocation application to remove the children.
5. Mediation involving a separating couple with three children. The mediation involved a division of assets, child arrangements including a change of boarding school for the children, and agreements regarding payments of school and university fees. The couple’s assets included assets overseas. The mediation involved third parties, including the couple’s IFA and extended family members. Successfully mediated division of assets, including how the couple dealt with foreign property, the child arrangements including term time and how they would share long school holidays and ongoing payments of school fees and tertiary university fees with living expenses.
